G. What has been happening in Suriname since the February 25 coup?

A. Our embassy in Paramaribo reports that there has been no violence in Suriname since early last week. We understand that President Ferrier is working with the National Military Council to establish an interim government. President Johann Ferrier continues as Chief of State of Suriname, and its people are fortunate to have a man of Ferrier’s dedication, statesmanship, and probity in their service. END TEXT

  1. No question was asked on Suriname’s situation at the press briefing.
