  1. DE WEST OF MARCH 4, 1980, CARRIED THE FOLLOWING:
    • A. Former Prime Minister H. Arron told a visiting reporter that he and the other former ministers who have been returned to the military camp for detention are being treated well. His only complaint was about mosquitos.
    • B. “The National Military Council says that parliament still exists and will continue to exist. The former Suriname army has been replaced by the national military army. The officers of the former army are still imprisoned—as prisoners of war. They are not allowed to receive visitors.”
    • C. All Surinamese ambassadors and the Surinamese representative to the United Nations have been recalled for instructions.
    • D. “The IC does not label its action a coup, but rather an operation or corrective surgery. Anyone who resists this operation will be retrained.”
    • E. “The NMC says it wants social justice. People who stir up racial prejudices will be punished. NMC member Sital said, “As a people, we cannot condone intolerance,” it said.
