Born October 23, 1931, in Oxnard, California, William Patrick Clark attended Villanova Preparatory School, Stanford and Santa Clara Universities, and Loyola Night Law School. He served in the Army Counter Intelligence Corps in Western Europe (1953–1955). Before joining the Reagan Administration, he had an extensive legal and judicial career, including appointments to the California Superior Court, Court of Appeals, and the California Supreme Court (1973–1981).

Following his government service, he served as a director for Pacific Telesis Group and SBC, and led the Clark Company while serving as senior counsel to the firm Clark, Cali and Negranti.


Scope and Content

The William Clark collection consists of memos, schedules, correspondence, briefing papers, and cables. It covers his tenure as Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs, as well as portions of his work at the State Department and the Department of the Interior. The material is arranged alphabetically by topic and then chronologically.
